1. Scope of Works

Supply and installation of a structural steel mezzanine floor within an existing warehouse unit. Works include erection of steel columns and primary/secondary beams, installation of metal floor decking, perimeter handrail system, and a fixed access staircase. All steelwork fabricated off-site and delivered to site for erection.

4. Site Safety Arrangements

4.1. Access Arrangements on Site

Contact the client and ensure all permits are in order prior to works commencing. Access, egress and third-party protection will be clearly identified and controlled by the Client Site Manager. All staff will attend initial site induction. Barriers to identify immediate works area as required.

5. Sequence of Works

Pre-Start Checks:

Works area has been fenced off, secured and made safe by client.
Ensure work area is safe and free from trip hazards and obstructions.
All personnel to wear appropriate PPE whilst on site.
Toolbox talk and communication of all operations to operatives involved.
All relevant parties advised of current scope of works.

Site induction and toolbox talk with all operatives prior to commencement.
Establish exclusion zone beneath work area. Erect barriers and signage.
Unload steelwork from delivery vehicle. Check all members against drawings.
Mark out and drill base plate positions to existing slab. Install resin anchors.
Position and fix base plates. Allow resin to cure fully before loading.
Erect columns and connect primary beams, then raise into position.
Install secondary beams and floor decking from safe working platforms.
Install perimeter handrail system and fixed access staircase.
Final structural check. Remove exclusion zone and clean work area.
Hand over to client with completed documentation.

A Risk Assessment & Method Statement (RAMS) sets out the hazards involved in a piece of site work and the controls in place to manage them, alongside the step-by-step method for carrying it out. Most principal contractors won't let you start on site without one, and it's a core part of meeting your obligations under CDM 2015.

How long does it take to get my RAMS?

Standard turnaround is 5 business days, Express is 3, and Priority is 1 business day. Every document is personally reviewed by Harry before it's issued, so turnaround starts once your job details are complete — not from the moment you drop your files.

What information do I need to provide?
